Chronic Pain Healing Through Resilience Coaching

A note about chronic pain coaching from Wendy:

Chronic pain recovery is more than just addressing physical symptoms—it's about healing both the body and the mind. My collaborative approach honors your unique experience, drawing on your inner wisdom to foster balance and reconnect you with the activities you love. Rather than pathologizing your pain, we work together to explore the possible emotional influences, while also recognizing the full spectrum of factors that contribute to your experience.

Having navigated my own chronic pain journey, I bring a deep, personal understanding of its far-reaching impact. My approach combines Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) "tapping," Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work, and Mindfulness to help you build inner strength and resilience. By calming the nervous system and addressing emotional factors that may hinder healing, we pave the way for lasting relief and transformation.

Healing is a collaborative process. I believe each person holds the innate wisdom and resources for growth. My role is to help you access and strengthen these resources, so you can face life's challenges with greater ease and reclaim a sense of empowerment. Together, we’ll shift your relationship with chronic pain toward one of resilience and well-being.

The Two Ways That Wendy Addresses Chronic Pain

Mind-Body Practices

Using mind-body practices like mindfulness, EFT tapping, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), I help you cultivate resilience and reclaim a fulfilling life.

Pain Education

By teaching about pain, I help individuals take an active role in their health journey, shifting their perspective and reducing the fear that often accompanies chronic conditions.

Method #1: Mind-Body Practices

Through a blend of Mind-Body Practices and Experiential Healing Techniques, I support both your physical and emotional recovery from chronic pain. This holistic, integrative approach is personalized to meet your unique needs, helping you cultivate resilience and reclaim an active, fulfilling life.

Examples of Mind-Body Practices:

Mindfulness – Reduces stress and promotes acceptance, even in the face of chronic pain.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) – Guides you to explore and heal different “parts” of yourself that may be impacted by pain, helping you achieve greater self-understanding and inner balance.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) – Uses "tapping" to reduce the emotional intensity of both current and past events tied to pain, enhancing emotional resilience and reducing reactivity.

Experiential Exploration and Healing

Techniques such as Nicole Sachs' Journal Speak, role play, experiential letter writing, spectrograms, and Floor Checks offer powerful opportunities for emotional exploration and growth. These methods help uncover emotional and psychological factors that may be shaping the experience of pain, creating space for healing and emotional release. This integrative approach is designed to clear emotional blocks that hinder your recovery, build lasting resilience, and support pain reduction. By addressing both the mind and body, healing becomes a dynamic and transformative process.

Understanding pain is essential for effective recovery. Pain is a complex interplay of physical, emotional, and environmental factors. By exploring these mechanisms, I help individuals take an active role in their health journey, shifting their perspective and reducing the fear that often accompanies chronic conditions.

In sessions, I integrate pain science to explain how the nervous system processes pain, the role of inflammation, and the connection between emotional states and pain experiences. By understanding how pain truly operates—as an interaction between body and mind—you can build resilience and feel more empowered in your healthcare decisions and pain care planning.

My goal is to provide you with a clear understanding of pain science, seamlessly woven into our work together. With this knowledge, you can develop a personalized approach to managing pain, navigating your journey with more clarity, confidence, and well-being.
